The peace of mind provided by assurances from both the manufacturer and independent safety body Euro NCAP, which we’ve talked about before, is invaluable in choosing the right family vehicle, and it’s something we appreciate the importance of here at Avalon Motor Company.

Here are just some of the 5-star rated models, and therefore some of Avalon’s safest family cars… 

Nissan Qashqai

If you’ve done your research on family cars before, you’ll be well acquainted with the Qashqai already. It’s often hailed as one of the safest family cars that you can buy, and sure enough, its 5-star Euro NCAP rating backs up this bold claim. BMW X1

The X1 is BMW’s answer to a compact SUV, and what a versatile family vehicle it is. Not only does it adapt to your family life, but BMW has also ensured that it’s a safe addition to your household too, thanks to its 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. A 90% score for adult occupant protection, and 87% for child occupant protection is not to be sniffed at! A high-quality interior gives it that durable feel, and let’s be honest, BMWs never go out of style!

Ford Kuga 

You’re in safe hands behind the wheel of Ford’s popular SUV, the Kuga; in 2019 it earned 5-stars from Euro NCAP, with 92% adult occupant protection and 86% child occupant protection. It’s comfortable, sturdy, and can handle both the school run and those long trips away with ease, with enough space for even growing teenagers to stretch their legs!

Mercedes-Benz GLA Class

If you like a touch of luxury from your family SUV, a test drive in the GLA should be in your calendar. When this model was initially tested by Euro NCAP in 2014, it was awarded the maximum 5-stars thanks to its 96% score for adult occupant protection, and 88% for child occupant protection. In terms of family life, one of the Mercedes-Benz GLA’s finest features is its boot space; 421 litres with the rear seats up, and 836 litres when they’re down.

Skoda Kodiaq

A stylish 7-seater is a larger family’s dream, and this is the gap in the market that Skoda decided to fill with the Kodiaq. It’s no surprise that this model is rated 5-stars by Euro NCAP - autonomous emergency braking is fitted as standard to all Kodiaqs. The cabin itself is comfortable and well equipped, which is handy for those who spend a lot of their time driving.
